Music is nice but at the right time!

One of my neighbours asked me to write few lines about practising piano playing skills after 10 P.M.

Well, I think that it is not cool at all to play at night, no matter how nice one plays.  Every one of us wants to enjoy a peaceful time in their own home.  Some of us go to bed at 10 P.M.  Why not stick with common sense and practice at a time when your neighbours are most likely awake?

Music is nice but at the right time! Be a good neighbour!

    I agree, music is great fun and very enjoyable, but everyone around you should be taken into consideration. I myself am an avid drummer, but I have traded in my ear-piercing acoustic set for a quiet electric set because of the move. I fear that the neighbors still may hear the tapping noise, but it’s only about as loud as someone tapping their fingers on a desk. That being said, I don’t plan on playing past 9pm or so.

    I wonder how well we will be able to hear others TVs and stereos inside of our unit. I guess we will have to wait and see. Any tips for sound-proofing the door? I’ve noticed a lot of units have these little rolls at the bottom of their doors on the outside. I’m not sure if that is to keep out sound, or keep heat in, or both.

    Hello Mike,

    I have very considerate neighbours but I heard that some owners were annoyed by the music played by people renting a unit. If talking to them does not work, I would go by the rules in place.

    The walls between my unit and the adjacent ones seem quite effective in blocking sounds. So far, I felt no need to sound proof the door.

    I did not see the rolls you are referring to but my guess is they are used to stop the fresh/ cold air coming from the hallway.
